April Finally

Spring Break was a bust my son had pneumonia and I was recovering from my cold.  So everyone is on the mend.  Saturday, March 30, for the record was 73 deg. here.  Today we are back to drizzle but the weekend was beautiful here are highlights.

Spring or Not?

Well, Spring is officially here and what does it look like in Warrenton?

But, the whole family developed a really bad case of the crud just as the tulips started to turn and my new seed order came in.  So I haven't been able to pick any flowers or start any more seeds these past few days.

I just love these little tulips, they are the side bulbs that normally get picked off  to make the bulb bigger.  I put them in the bouquet above for the coffee shop

In case you may not have heard the news, Erika's Fresh Flowers is selling bouquets at the Astoria, Oregon Cooperative. The Coop has grown so much recently and we are glad to be a part of it!

Another weekend goes by, greenhouse not finished

Another weekend has gone by and it's not finished.  My husband is a perfectionist and builds things well.  Unfortunately, it takes a while and the weather needs to cooperate.

I just can't get enough of these tulips

I am enjoying what few tulips I did plant this fall.  It seemed 

like a lot when I was planting them I forget that they go so fast.

I am kicking myself for not planting more!   

The tulips have been going like hotcakes at the stand.  I've been posting on Facebook when I put them there so keep your eyes open and sign up. 

Tulips for Sale!

I just wanted to gobble them all up.  I know that sounds weird, but their beauty is more than words can describe.  Pretty much a nice day. Husband was working on hoop house, up on a ladder and I was holding the tape measure....until...thunder.  Then off the ladder and hurry to put everything away.  Everyone went in the house except me I hurried to get these beauties to the flowers stand..and...then...HAIL!  Yes, the four letter word flower farms hate to say.  Well, after getting wet and cold I packed it in for the day.  Fireplace is on and drinking a hot cup of tea.

Wow, March 8th, A Summer Day

What a gorgeous day!  60 degrees, it was just lovely.  I got my clematis moved to their nice new bed.  Started weeding and cleaning up.

I received my Kordes Roses and unpacked them all.  I covered them up with several layers of row cover to keep them warm until they can go in new greenhouse.

 My pallet of organic potting soil and soil amendment.  Because I have such sandy soil I am continually adding organic matter to it.

First handful of the season

Daff's for the Bakery tomorrow and I'll put in those beautiful Tulips.  I love those milk glasses vases.

Trying to grow plants this time of year by fluorescent lighting, heat optional.  Once the plants came up they needed to go off the heating bed to make room for more trays of seeds.  So my husband insulated a shelf in the shop with lights to keep them growing until the SEE BELOW, yes the greenhouse is done.

All four corners or cemented in!  Despite the threat of snow, it was actually a nice day.  With no wind it was a nice 41 degrees between rain showers.
